Grollo Group

Over the years, the interests of the Grollo family have been reflected in the work of the Grollo Group. Groset Pty. Ltd, a Grollo Group company, has delivered a range of projects in sport, education and tourism.

Most notable is the development in 1995 of the Australian Ski Institute at Mt Buller. In an Australian first, Rino and Diana Grollo committed $5 million to the Institute. In 1997, the Australian Institute of Sport conducted its first winter sports program there and in 1998, the Australian Olympic Committee expanded the Institute to include all winter Olympic sports. On 1 July 1998, the Olympic Winter Institute was born.

In 1997, the Grollos established the La Trobe University campus at Mt. Buller to support excellence in sport and education. The Mt. Buller campus facilities include a gymnasium and multipurpose sports centre. University, TAFE and secondary courses in outdoor education and recreation, tourism and hospitality address education needs and the skill needs of employers in the alpine region. The mountain campus is now fully owned by La Trobe University.
